Jordanian King Abdullah II discussed today, Sunday, the latest developments in the Middle East region, during a phone call with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. King Abdullah II received today a phone call from Sunak, during which they discussed current developments. During the discussion, the Jordanian monarch warned of the danger of escalation in the region, which threatens international peace and security. King Abdullah urged the international community to intensify efforts to reach an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, to reduce the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip, warning of the consequences of the expected Israeli attack on Rafah. He stressed the need to protect civilians in Gaza and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip, pointing to the importance of continuing to support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to enable it to provide its humanitarian services in accordance with its UN mandate. It is noteworthy that Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant discussed earlier this month the issue of preparations to carry out the civilian operations necessary for the army forces' ground incursion into the city of Rafah, and Gallant stressed 'the need to focus on evacuating civilians from Rafah.' The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided to postpone the military operation in Rafah. Source: National Iraqi News Agency
