The President of the Republic assures the Somali PM of Iraq’s support for the security and stability of Somalia

The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received the Prime Minister of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, and his accompanying delegation, and affirmed Iraq's support for the security and stability of his country. A presidential statement stated: 'At the beginning of the meeting, Barre conveyed the greetings and wishes of Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, while President Abdel Latif Jamal Rashid, send through Somali Prime Minister, his greetings to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and his wishes to the Somali people for further progress and prosperity.' The President welcomed the Somali Prime Minister's visit to Iraq and the positive step it constitutes to strengthen bilateral relations and expand the horizons of cooperation, especially in the field of scholarships and fellowships for Somali students in Iraqi universities. The President of the Republic spoke about confronting terrorism, noting that Iraq made great sacrifices in order to cleanse its soil and land, expel terrorist gangs, and es tablish security and stability in Iraqi cities and provinces, noting Iraq's support for the security and stability of Somalia in a way that achieves the aspirations of the brotherly Somali people. In turn, Barre expressed his happiness at visiting Baghdad, stressing his country's keenness to strengthen relations between the two countries in various fields.
