The President of the Republic receives Mikati and stresses the importance of concerted efforts to stop the ongoing aggression on Gaza

President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid discussed with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati strengthening friendship and joint cooperation relations in the interest of the two brotherly peoples. The presidency said in a statement, "The President of the Republic received today, Sunday, at the Baghdad Palace, Mikati and the accompanying delegation, which included the Ministers of Industry, Energy and Water, Agriculture, Public Works and Transport, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil Hayan Abdul Ghani. The statement added, "During the meeting, developments in the Arab and international arenas were reviewed, and the importance of concerted efforts to stop the ongoing aggression on Gaza and address the tragic humanitarian situation witnessed by the sector. The President of the Republic stressed that the world is witnessing rapid changes and events today that require finding a formula for cooperation and common understanding among all countries of the region to confront these challenges. Rashid touched on the security stability and the construction and reconstruction process that Iraq is witnessing, explaining that the principled constants push towards strengthening its relations with brotherly and friendly countries, and that the past period has witnessed many positive developments in this field. For his part, Mikati appreciated the position of the President of the Republic during the recent summit in Bahrain in support of Lebanon, explaining that what connects the two brotherly countries is more than what connects Lebanon to any other country. He added that his visit to Iraq comes within the framework of strengthening these relations and expanding the horizons of joint cooperation.
