The Media Office of the President of the Republic stated in a statement, 'Rashid received, at Baghdad Palace, the Turkish Ambassador to Iraq, Ali Riza Gunay, on the occasion of the end of his tenure.' According to the statement, during the meeting, Rashid stressed "Iraq's desire to consolidate bilateral relations between the two countries and intensify cooperation in the field of border security control in a way that serves the mutual interests of the Iraqi and Turkish peoples, and enhances security and stability in the region." He stressed "the necessity of adopting a serious and constructive dialogue between the two sides to find solutions to the outstanding issues between the two countries," noting "the importance of coordination and cooperation in the field of water and ensuring Iraq's share of it, in addition to benefiting from Tu rkish expertise and experiences in building dams and harvesting water." The President of the Republic expressed his "wishes for success for the ambassador in his future duties, praising his efforts during his work in Iraq, and what he provided for the development of Iraqi-Turkish relations."
