The White House: The United States does not recognize the Taliban as the official government of Afghanistan

Coordinator of Strategic Communications at the US National Security Council, John Kirby, stated that the United States does not recognize the Taliban as a ruling authority in Afghanistan. Kirby said in a press conference: 'The Taliban did not fulfill any commitment they made when they came to power. We are not in a position and will not be in a position to recognize the Taliban as the official government of Afghanistan, and if Russia does that, it sends a bad signal to others,' he said.
