Turkish Intelligence Announces The Killing Of A Leader Figure In (PKK) in Northern Iraq

The Turkish intelligence announced the killing of a leader in the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in a security operation it carried out in northern Iraq.

A Turkish security source said in a press statement today, Monday, that a Turkish intelligence force managed to kill a leading figure of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), Emre Shaheen, the communications officer of the terrorist organization in northern Iraq.

The Turkish security source indicated that the assassination of Shaheen took place in Gara region in northern Iraq, after following him up and monitoring his movements.

He explained that Shaheen was preparing programs on secret communication methods for the Kurdish organization under the instructions of the leader, Murad Karayilan, as he assumed responsibility for the piracy unit from 2020 and developed encrypted communication methods used by members of the organization.

The Turkish security source stated that Shaheen joined the PKK in 2014, and carried out several armed operations against Turkish forces in the countryside of Sirnak Province, southeastern Turkey in 2019, Shaheen moved to Iraq and began producing explosive materials in the north for the benefit of the Kurdish organization.
