Turkiye Deploys 5 Military Transport Aircraft to Evacuate Citizens from Sudan

National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar announced the allocation of five transport planes to evacuate Turkish citizens from Sudan.

In a press statement, Akar affirmed that by Friday evening, the evacuation of Turkish citizens from Sudan will be completed, pointing out that one of the planes that landed in the city of Port Sudan will take off within hours to evacuate the citizens.

We made a plan with our Foreign Ministry for the evacuation of our citizens living in Sudan and started to implement it. Some of our citizens were evacuated through Ethiopia, Akar said.

He added that they continue their efforts to evacuate 210 of their citizens from Wadi Sayyidna, north of Khartoum, by three C-130 aircraft.

Also, he said two A400M aircraft landed in the city of Port Sudan, indicating that they have information that there are 250 citizens. One of these planes will soon take off from Port Sudan to bring their citizens home.

Since April 15, a number of Sudanese states have witnessed widespread clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, which have claimed the lives of hundreds of people, most of them civilians.
