Doha: HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi emphasized the State of Qatar's endeavor to enhance the role of artificial intelligence (AI) as a powerful technological tool to enable the realization of the economic, social, human, and environmental development outlined in Qatar National Vision 2030, for which AI is indispensable. Addressing the 21st Annual Meeting of Science and Technology in Society (STS Forum), held from Oct. 6 to 8 in Kyoto, Japan, His Excellency highlighted Qatar's efforts to leverage artificial intelligence to enhance its digital economy, achieve economic diversification and transportation efficiency, and produce world-class artificial intelligence applications to enhance citizens' education, to become a model for AI-based future. His Excellency stressed the importance of science, technology and innovation as basic pillars of progress and prosperity, in addition to investing in education and developing the workforce, noting tha t the pace of technological development requires skilled and adaptable workforce. HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, who headed Qatar's delegation to the Forum, indicated that Qatar's Ministry of Education and Higher Education seeks, through its 2024-2030 strategy launched under the slogan "Igniting the Spark of Learning", to develop an integrated educational system that enhances creativity and innovation, and prepares a generation qualified to lead a successful professional life. This strategy is a roadmap that contributes to building a sustainable knowledge-based future, strengthening the innovation-based economy, and empowering future generations to lead their societies. In conclusion, His Excellency noted that transformative science, technology, artificial intelligence, and innovation policies have become a necessity that requires collective commitment, cooperation and courage to embrace change. Investing in inclusive education, cooperati on, infrastructure and sustainability allows the creation of an innovation ecosystem that empowers and enables individuals, drives economic growth, and promotes a better future for all. Held annually in Kyoto, the STS Forum aims at promoting cooperation between countries in the field of technology, science and innovation; examining technology transfer mechanisms and the role of science, technology and innovation in achieving sustainable development goals; exchanging expertise in areas of common interest; and exploring creative initiatives and ideas.
