US State Department: 5 Thousand US Citizens Requested Assistance To Leave Sudan

The US State Department announced today, Friday, that 5,000 US citizens have requested assistance to leave Sudan.

In a statement, it said, "The extension of the ceasefire in Sudan is important for carrying out evacuations and allowing aid to enter."

On a related subject, Britain announced that the end of the evacuation of its nationals from Sudan will be tomorrow, Saturday.

The British Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that about 900 people have been evacuated from Sudan so far.
