Istanbul: Two unidentified gunmen opened fire on the building of the Iraqi Consulate in Istanbul, Turkiye. The shooting did not lead to any casualties or material damage.
According to Qatar News Agency, a spokesperson for the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the assailants, who were riding a motorcycle, shot at the Iraqi Consulate General building in Istanbul.
In a statement, the spokesperson added that the incident resulted in no injuries or property damage. He noted that security units are conducting a thorough investigation, and efforts are underway to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice. He also emphasized that there is ongoing communication with Iraqi authorities regarding the incident.
The Turkish official stressed that all necessary security measures have been taken to ensure the safety of Iraqi diplomatic missions in Ankara, Istanbul, and Gaziantep.
Turkish police continue their on-site investigation and have launched a security operation to apprehend the two suspects.
