An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale struck on Monday off the coast of Vanuatu.
The US Geological Survey stated that the tremor occurred 89 km west of Port Vila in Vanuatu, at a depth of 10 km.
There were no reports of human loss or material damage as a result of the tremor.
Vanuatu is an island country located in the South Pacific Ocean. The archipelago, which is of volcanic origin, lies on the so-called Ring of Fire which is a string of volcanoes and sites of seismic activity.
