Ravar: A 5-magnitude earthquake struck Monday the city of Ravar in Kerman Province, southern Iran.
According to Qatar News Agency, IRNA news agency reported, citing the province’s emergency department, that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 8 kilometers. No casualties or material damage have been reported so far.
Iran is occasionally subject to earthquakes of varying intensity, given its location on major fault lines. The deadliest of these occurred in 1990, when a 7.7-magnitude earthquake in the northwest of the country killed 37,000 people and injured 100,000 others.
