The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency arrested a gang trafficking in girls in Baghdad. The Agency's statement stated: Detachments of the Intelligence Agency/Organized Crime Directorate specialized in combating human trafficking arrested a gang consisting of (6) defendants, after monitoring information indicating the existence of a gang for trafficking in girls and exploiting them for immoral purposes in Baghdad. It explained that after receiving the information, an intelligence and field follow-up team was formed, and after verifying the accuracy of the information, proper judicial approvals were obtained and all those accused of the crime were arrested red-handed. Girls who were being exploited for immoral purposes for financial gain were also seized in their possession.
