Al-Fayyad: The PMF’s Function Is To Protect The State And Prevent Dictatorship

The head of the Popular Mobilization Commission, Faleh Al-Fayyad, affirmed that the Popular Mobilization Forces rose from the depths of the people and a sense of danger, indicating that the function of the Popular Mobilization Forces is to protect the state, the political system and the constitution, and to prevent dictatorship.

Al-Fayyad said in a televised interview: "The response to the fatwa of the supreme religious authority was resounded by the Iraqi people," noting that "the popular mobilization came from the depths of the people and the sense of danger by the loyal Iraqis."

He added, "The Popular Mobilization Forces were able to absorb the jihadist capabilities of the resistance factions," pointing out that "the function of the Popular Mobilization Forces is to protect the state, the political system, and the constitution, and to prevent dictatorship."

Al-Fayyad stressed that "the popular mobilization was able to restore respect for the Iraqi personality, because the new thing that the popular mobilization brought was the moral aspect and that" the PMF provided an opportunity for the army to build itself.

Al-Fayyad stressed that "the Popular Mobilization Forces are obedient to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and it is the most loyal institution of the Iraqi state," noting that "no violation of the Popular Mobilization Forces was indicated."

The head of the Commission indicated that "the Popular Mobilization Forces will have car numbers, colors and uniforms of their own," explaining that "the service and retirement law of the Popular Mobilization Forces will be presented to Parliament."
