Al-Sudani Stresses The Need To Proceed With Administrative Reform In The Ministries And Not To Hesitate In Combating Corruption

The Prime Minister, Muhammad Al-Sudani, stressed the need to proceed with administrative reform in the ministries, and not to hesitate in combating corruption.

The media office of the Prime Minister stated: "Today, Sunday, Al-Sudani visited the Ministry of Water Resources, where he chaired a meeting of its opinion committee, during which they reviewed the water situation and the challenges facing Iraq in this field, and the measures taken to confront the crisis."

The Prime Minister stressed the need to review the management of the water file, which should not be limited to the Ministry only, but rather requires the mobilization of the entire state's efforts, both internally and externally.

He pointed out that there is a weakness in the use of modern technology in operating the electronic-hydraulic system to operate dams, in addition to the obvious defect in monitoring the quality and quantity of water at the entrances and exits of the governorates.

Al-Sudani directed the importance of creating special legislation to remove abuses and punish violators, as well as procedures related to switching to closed irrigation, and removing abuses represented by unlicensed lakes, as well as working to close the outlets of untreated sewage water on rivers, and prevent this phenomenon that causes damage to the water environment, as well as about its negative effects on citizens.

He also directed the removal of sediments in river, and not delaying establishing associations for water users, pointing to the importance of applying modern scientific research and studies, and applying the system of partnership between governorates without limiting its application to districts only.

Al-Sudani stressed the need to take quick measures to meet the challenges of the summer season, stressing that the agricultural plan for the new season will be limited to peasants and farmers who adopt modern methods of irrigation, pointing to the need to proceed with administrative reform in the ministries, and not to hesitate in combating corruption.

He stressed the importance of following up on the requirements and rights of employees, directing the follow-up of the housing file and plots of land allocated to them, and the need for this file to be present in the interests of the Opinion Commission.

For his part, the Minister of Water Resources thanked the Prime Minister for the unprecedented interest in the water file and the reform efforts in this sector.
