Riyadh: The Arab League has condemned the recent drone attack targeting the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the United Arab Emirates. The organization labeled the incident as a dangerous escalation that threatens regional security and constitutes a clear violation of international law and norms related to the protection of civilian nuclear facilities.
According to Qatar News Agency, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit expressed approval of the UAE Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation's assurance that the fire, which occurred near the nuclear plant, did not compromise the plant's safety or radiation levels. The statement highlighted that the incident did not lead to any harmful radiation exposure.
The Arab League Secretary-General also reiterated the organization's unwavering support for the UAE. He emphasized the League's solidarity with the UAE in all measures it undertakes to preserve its sovereignty, security, and stability, as well as to protect its national interests and resources.
