Doha: Qatar News Agency (QNA) launched a five-day training course on Sunday titled "The Journalist Correspondent: Field Reporting," as part of the 2026 training plan of the QNA Training Center. The course is aimed at media personnel focused on improving their news coverage abilities, specifically in event and conference reporting, interviewing, and crisis management, with an emphasis on field reporting skills in news agencies.
According to Qatar News Agency, the course is led by Mohammed Al-Hadi Karmous, a media expert and senior editor at QNA. It aims to enhance journalists' on-the-ground reporting skills, enabling them to secure news scoops while adhering to accuracy and publication speed standards. The program also underscores the importance of modern technologies and AI, including smartphone applications, to support journalistic performance, especially during crises, emergencies, and live coverage pressures.
The course curriculum covers several key topics, including the fundamentals and objectives of news coverage, various forms of media coverage across platforms, characteristics of a field reporter, teamwork within news outlets, management of major event coverage, media crisis handling, and the use of digital tools to support field journalism.
This initiative is part of QNA's broader efforts to develop national media competencies and keep pace with rapid developments in the media industry, aiming to enhance the overall quality of media production. In 2023, QNA launched the QNA Training Halls, equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, to serve as an integrated platform for building media capabilities and aligning with global trends in modern media.
