Doha: Bahrain has strongly condemned missile and drone attacks targeting several countries in the region as a "blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law."
According to Qatar News Agency, during an emergency virtual meeting convened by the European Union with regional leaders on current developments, HH Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa stated that Bahrain, alongside members of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jordan, and other countries, faced "unprecedented" attacks. These attacks targeted residential areas and critical infrastructure.
Prince Salman highlighted that the affected civilian infrastructure included energy facilities and water desalination plants. He noted that the strikes resulted in civilian casualties and injuries.
He emphasized that the attacks pose a threat to both regional and global stability and "cannot be justified under any circumstances." Prince Salman called on the international community to take decisive action to ensure the protection of international maritime navigation and maintain the flow of goods through the Strait of Hormuz.
He urged the United Nations Security Council and the European Union to act urgently and firmly, warning that a lack of action could lead to further attacks and undermine international peace and security.
