Bahrain participates in 7th Brussels Conference on ‘Supporting the future of Syria and the region”

Bahrain’s Ambassador to Belgium and Chief of its Mission to the European Union (EU), Abdullah bin Faisal bin Jaber Al-Dosari, chaired the kingdom’s delegation to the seventh Brussels Conference on "Supporting the future of Syria and the region", hosted by the EU at the headquarters of the European Council here.

During the meeting, Josep Borrell, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy stressed the need to reach a political solution in Syria, in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolution 2254.

He emphasised that the aid directed to the Syrians should be effective and sustainable, calling for not ignoring the needs of neighbouring countries that host the Syrian and Palestinian refugees.

He extended thanks and gratitude to the countries of the region that continue hosting Syrian refugees, announcing that the EU had allocated €1.5 billion to the Syrian refugees and the host countries.

The conference succeed in mobilising aid to Syrians inside the country and in the neighbouring countries, through international pledges totalling €5.6 billion for 2023 and beyond.
