Egypt’s Foreign Ministry Unveils Extensive Gaza Reconstruction Plan: 460,000 Housing Units and Basic Services Restoration

Doha: Egypt announced that the Arab plan for early recovery, reconstruction, and development of Gaza, adopted by Tuesday’s extraordinary Arab summit in Cairo, includes building 460,000 permanent housing units and restoring basic services, networks, and facilities.

According to Qatar News Agency, this announcement came during a series of meetings held by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs with foreign ambassadors accredited to Cairo from Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas, as well as with representatives from international organizations. These meetings were part of efforts to promote the Arab plan.

A statement from the ministry highlighted the comprehensive vision of the plan, detailing its elements and three stages. These stages include the removal of 50 million tons of rubble and unexploded ordnance. It was emphasized during these meetings that the plan was formulated to address the extensive destruction within the Gaza Strip and the urgent need to provide relief to the Palestinian people, enabling them to regain normal life.

The meetings also addressed additional topics, such as achieving security in the Gaza Strip by intensifying training programs for Palestinian police personnel and building their capacities. Furthermore, discussions included enabling the Palestinian Authority to return to supervising the Gaza Strip.
