Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) has ranked first in the State of Qatar and third in the Middle East and North Africa region, and has been listed in the top 150 universities for Computer Science and Engineering on Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) for 2021. This is a pioneering ranking for prestigious international universities.

The ranking is on the same bracket as top worldwide universities and used criteria include the outputs of researches and their impact, as well as staff competence and international cooperation programs.

HBKU has been also listed among the top universities in the areas of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Materials Science and Engineering. This achievement constitutes a worldwide recognition for the university, the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) and research institutes offering educational and research programs in these subject areas that have attained an advanced ranking.
