Hotel Fire Kills One Person in Bursa, Turkiye

Bursa: A massive fire broke out at the Kervansaray Hotel in the Uludag district of the Turkish city of Bursa, killing one person and causing significant material damage. This is the second incident happening since the beginning of the year.

According to Qatar News Agency, Mayor of Bursa Mustafa Bozbey confirmed that there were no tourists in the hotel at the time of the fire, noting that only five employees were inside, four of whom were rescued, while one person died.

He said that the fire broke out in the hotel’s cafe before quickly spreading and engulfing the building, necessitating the immediate dispatch of firefighters to try to control the blaze.

Bozbey added that the hotel was closed during official inspections, and its residence permit had expired. He noted that procedures for designating the hotel as a national park have been completed, and a court order has been issued for its evacuation.

Last January, the Turkish city of Bolu witnessed a tragic fire at a popular hotel in the Kartalkaya ski resort, resulting in the deaths of 66 people.
