On the sidelines of the event, HE Mohammed bin Yousef Al Mana, first vice-president of the Qatar Olympic Committee and president of both the Qatari and Arab Weightlifting Federations, was honored by Egypt's Rawabet Sports Company in recognition of his contribution to the development of the sport. Al Mana said the recognition reflected the collective efforts being made to advance weightlifting internationally, adding that greater co-operation between continental and national federations was essential to sustaining the sport's development.
He noted that Arab and Asian federations were placing particular emphasis on youth development through training programs, overseas camps, and international competition opportunities aimed at preparing a new generation of athletes capable of competing at the highest level. Meanwhile, Jassim Ibrahim Al Mansouri, secretary-general of the Qatar Weightlifting Federation, stated that the team's participation formed part of a broader strategy to build a generation capable of competing internationally.
He added that the achievements recorded by Fares Jaber demonstrated the progress being made within Qatar's technical training system and youth development program.
