HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim issues Edict (10) of 2024

Manama, Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), issued Edict (10) of 2024, amending Edict (7) of 2006, regarding the categories and benefits of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Award for the Advancement of Bahraini Women. The edict stated that the award is designated for the best performing ministries, official and private institutions, civil society organisations, and individuals. It was issued "following a review of Royal Order (5) of 2004 on the establishment of the HRH Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Award for Bahraini Women's Advancement, Royal Order (17) of 2019 on amending Royal Order (5) of 2004 on establishing the Prize of the President of the SCW for the Empowerment of Bahrain Women and Edict (7) of 2006 on the categories and benefits of the award, and upon the proposal of the Secretary General of the SCW. The edict stipulated the purpose of the award's l evels and benefits for ministries, official and private institutions, and civil society organisations. The winning entity will receive several benefits, including a financial reward to support projects or training programmes dedicated to working women, a shield with the award's logo, and a certificate of appreciation presented by the SCW President. The winner is also entitled to display the award's logo on its premises for a period of two years. For the individuals category, the winner will be granted with a financial reward allocated to supporting projects or developmental programmes specifically for women, a shield with the award's logo, and a certificate of appreciation presented by the SCW President. HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of SCW, also issued Edict (11) of 2024, regarding the formation of the Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Award for the Advancement of Bahraini Women Committee for the Eighth Edition (2024- 2026). The committee shall be composed as follows: 1. Lulwa bint Saleh Al Awadhi, Secretary General of the SCW, chairperson. 2. Shaikh Khalifa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Bourse, member. 3. Mariam Ahmed Jumaan, Chairperson of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) and member of the Board of Directors of SCW, member. 4. Dr. Abdulrahman Abdulhussain Jawahery, Chief Executive Officer of Bapco Refining, member. 5.. Hala Hussain Yateem, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Bahrain (NBB), member. 6.. Osama Saleh Al Alawi, the Undersecretary of National Economy at the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, member. 7. Maha Abdulhameed Mufeez, Chief Executive Officer of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), member. 8. Dr. Abdulrazzaq Mohammed Al Qahtani, Acting Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Operations Affairs at the Social Insurance Organisation (SIO), member. 9. Faisal Ahmed Mohammed Saleh Abdullah, Assistant Undersecretary for the Commercial R egistry and Companies at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, member. 10. Reem Hassan Hameed Marhoon, Director General of Policy and Wages at the Civil Service Bureau (CSB), member. The edict assigns the committee with the responsibility of proposing the standards and criteria that ministries, official and private institutions, civil society organisations, and individuals must meet to be eligible for the award, in line with Article 2 of Royal Order (17) of 2019, which amended Royal Order (5) of 2004 on establishing the award. The committee is tasked with nominating the candidates for the award, subject to approval by the President of the Supreme Council for Women. The edict stipulated that the an international body named the "International Arbitration Committee for the Award" shall be formed. It shall comprise representatives from national mechanisms, regional or international organisations focused on women's issues, and experts in women's affairs. This committee will oversee the final nomination proce ss for the award, ensuring it aligns with the qualification criteria set by the award committee, and will also offer recommendations for the award's further development.
