Iraq and Russia are discussing bilateral relations and ways to develop them

The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Russian Federation, Dr. Qahtan Taha Khalaf, met today, Thursday with Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the International Relations Committee in the Russian State Duma.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that during the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to develop them, in addition to discussing the parliamentary cooperation through parliamentary committees, with the need to activate the work of the Parliamentary Friendship Committee of both countries through mutual visits, and cooperation in energy affairs between the two countries.

The Ambassador affirmed Iraq's keenness to develop relations with the Russian Federation at all levels.

For his part, Leonid Slutsky presented a number of regional and international issues of common concern, stressing that the Russian government continues its full support for the Iraqi government, stressing the need to continue creating appropriate conditions that would move forward to achieve the greatest interests between the two friendly countries.
