Magnitude 5.6 Earthquake Strikes Turkiye’s Malatya Province

Malatya: An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck on Wednesday morning in Malatya province, south of Turkiye. The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) said in a statement that the quake occurred at a depth of 7.03 kilometers. The earthquake's epicenter was the district of Battalgazi.

According to Qatar News Agency, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake. On February 6, southern Turkiye and northern Syria were struck by two earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6, followed by thousands of violent aftershocks. The disaster, centered in Kahramanmaras province, killed tens of thousands of people and caused widespread destruction in 11 provinces.
