Doha: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC), represented by the Department of Hazardous Chemicals and Waste, announced that it will start accepting applications for the annual hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) import quotas.
According to Qatar News Agency, the application period is open to companies that meet the specified quota criteria and will span from June 1 to July 31. This initiative is in preparation for determining import quotas for 2027, as stated by the MECC on Wednesday.
The MECC's announcement is part of Qatar's ongoing efforts to fulfill its international obligations under the Vienna Convention and the Montreal Protocol. This move is also pursuant to the Ministry's Resolution No. 20 of 2022, which concerns determining quotas and regulating the import of hydrochlorofluorocarbons and equipment using them.
The Ministry has called on eligible companies to attach all required documents in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. These documents should be submitted via the Department of Hazardous Chemicals and Waste services portal on the Ministry's website.
The Ministry emphasized the importance of fulfilling all necessary requirements and adhering to the specified timeframe to ensure applications are processed and quotas are set. The MECC urged applicant parties to comply with the specified deadline.
