Mikati Says Solutions to Lebanon’s Issues Start with Presidential Elections

Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati confirmed that the solution to his country's begins with electing a president for the country, restoring the regularity of constitutional work, approving a series of appointments in basic and sensitive institutions to maintain a minimum level of stability and approving the required reforms.

Speaking today, Miqati said that Lebanon was facing a dangerous crisis on all levels, whether political, economic, or social. He noted that some want to evade their responsibilities in terms of not holding presidential elections among other measures.

Lebanon has been suffering from a deep financial and economic crisis since 2019 that led to a deterioration in all aspects of living conditions. The country is also struggling from the absence of key constitutional bodies such as the presidency, as well as the failure of different governments to implement an economic plan that addresses these crises.
