MOEHE Determines Book Fees, Transportation Fares

HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi on Sunday issued ministerial decision determining the book fees and transportation fares for non-Qatari (GCC nationals) students.

The decision came in the context of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education's keenness to review educational policies and reduce the financial burdens on parents.

The decision set the transportation fee for each student at QAR 200 per semester, if they use school transportation, instead of QAR 1,000; a reduction of 78 percent.

The decision kept the fees of textbooks for each student at QAR 150 per semester.

The decision also stipulated that the children of Imams and Muezzins of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs be exempted from the book fees and transportation fares, and that exemption of the children of Qatari women and people with disabilities from the book fees and transportation fares shall continue.

The decision is to implementation starting the beginning of the school year 2023/2024.
