MoPH Launches Awareness Campaign to Mark World Hand Hygiene Day

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and its partners are marking the World Hand Hygiene Day, which falls on May 5 every year.

As part of the celebration of this day, the MoPH is launching an awareness campaign in cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), the health sector and all health care facilities in the State of Qatar under the slogan "Accelerate action together. SAVE LIVES Clean Your Hands." The campaign focuses on accelerating action to prevent infection and antimicrobial resistance in healthcare, building a culture of safety and quality that prioritizes improving hand hygiene, advancing the goal of maintaining a global standing for the importance of hand hygiene in healthcare and bringing people together to support improved hand hygiene globally.

All healthcare facilities and health workers in the State of Qatar are participating in the campaign by adhering to the Five Moments It Takes to Clean Hands, along with practitioners in the field of infection control and prevention whose role is to lead the way towards clean hands and policy makers who are investing for health and dignity as well as people receiving care.

The campaign aims to strengthen and empower communities of healthcare actors to accelerate action to improve hand hygiene, infection prevention and control in settings of care, and to foster collaboration between people and organizations towards the common goal of minimizing infection risks and developing the fight against antimicrobial resistance in healthcare.

The campaign includes awareness activities on the World Hand Hygiene Day, most notably displaying and distributing educational brochures on the importance of hand hygiene, infection prevention and control, and indicative displays in waiting areas for patients and visitors, display screens and social media.

The campaign is also carried out through field visits and educational activities in person and virtually, which are presented in a number of foreign languages in health facilities.
