NASA Names Crew For First Human Mission to The Moon in More Than 50 Years

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced Monday the names of four astronauts on the first human mission to fly around the far side of the moon in more than 50 years.

Artemis 2 mission scheduled to launch early 2024, includes the first woman and first African American.

The agency selected the engineer veteran space station astronaut Christina Koch and the first black astronaut to be sent on a mission to the moon,Victor Glover along with Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen and former U.S. Navy fighter pilots Reid Wiseman to crew the Artemis 2 mission to fly around the far side of the moon.

The approximately 10-day Artemis 2 mission will loop around the far side of the moon after blasting off on NASA's Space Launch System moon rocket from Kennedy Space Center in Florida no earlier than Nov. 2024, then return to Earth for splashdown in the Pacific Ocean. (QNA)
