Omani Delegation Reviews Qatar’s Rehabilitation, Correctional Experience

Doha: The Department of Penal and Correctional Institutions in Qatar recently hosted a delegation from Oman's Ministry of Interior. The visit was aimed at exploring the expertise and best practices in the field of rehabilitation and correctional work.

According to Qatar News Agency, the delegation was warmly received by Major General Nasser Mohammed Issa Al Sayed, the Director of the Penal and Correctional Institutions Department. He was joined by Colonel Yousef Bilal Al Abdullah, Assistant Director, and Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Jassim Khalid Al Hamar, Assistant Director General of Communications and Information Systems, alongside several other officers.

The Omani delegation, led by Major General Khalifa bin Ali Al Siyabi, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Customs for Administrative Affairs, was briefed on the key programs and initiatives implemented at Qatar's correctional institutions. These programs focus on rehabilitation, training, and the social and healthcare services provided to inmates.

The visit also underscored the efforts to advance an integrated correctional environment that adheres to international humanitarian standards and supports the social reintegration of inmates. The delegation toured various facilities and services, gaining insights into the operational mechanisms and procedures in place for managing and operating correctional institutions. This initiative is part of an effort to strengthen security cooperation and exchange expertise between the Ministries of Interior of Qatar and Oman.
