Ooredoo Cup: Al Arabi Beat Muaither, Umm Salal Surpass Al Wakrah, Qatar SC Beat Al Ahli

Al Arabi started their 2023-2024 season Ooredoo Cup campaign with a 2-1 defeat of Muaither in Group A at the Grand Hamad Stadium on Saturday.

Al Arabi, last season's semifinalists, overcame their opponents, thanks to goals from Rami Suhail (18th minute) and Abdulla Al Muraisi (34th minute) after falling behind in the 16th minute to Mohammed Salah El Neel's goal.

Meanwhile, Umm Salal surpassed Al Wakrah 5-0 in the first round in Group A of the 2023-2024 season Ooredoo Cup at the Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium on Saturday.

The last season's finalists registered their convincing win with goals from Khaled Waleed (15th minute), Abdullah Khaled (44th minute), Andy Delort (71st minute), substitute Mashaal Al Shammari (75th minute) and Ali Afif (90th-minute penalty).

In another match, Qatar SC rallied from being a goal down to upstage Al Ahli 2-1 in their opening match in Group A of the 2023-2024 season Ooredoo Cup at the Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Stadium on Saturday.

Al Ahli had gone into the break leading 1-0 before Qatar SC staged a fine comeback, scoring twice in the second half. While Ali Ghaderi scored for Al Ahli in the 31st minute, substitute Ali Awad (66th minute) and Abdulrahman Al Korbi (72nd minute) got the goals for Qatar SC.
