Petroleum Minister inaugurates the Syrian Geological Museum in Damascus

Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister, Dr. Firas Hassan Qaddour, inaugurated the Syrian Geological Museum in the building of the General Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources, including

set of minerals, rocks, fossils and ores.

The museum also includes models showing the working mechanism of the phosphate mill, and models for a map of Syria showing the sites of mineral resources, as well as a set of ancient equipment from field laboratories and geophysical and topographic devices.

It includes a section displayed the products of the General Institute of Geology and highlights geological phenomena, as well as tables showing the evolution of tectonic plates, and geological and environmental maps.

The Minister of Petroleum stressed that the museum supports scientific research, and constitutes a scientific and historical document for all those interested in the field of earth sciences, and a scientific reference for the geological history of Syria, and a platform for displaying all sources of mineral .

Qaddour pointed out that Syria has significant mineral resources, stressing the need to achieve optimal development and investment of wealth, promote investment of raw materials and resources with economic value, and make it a national priority.
