Bader Hood Al Mahmoud, Acting Undersecretary for Port and Maritime Affairs, received the winning companies of the Mina’ai (My Seaport) Award in its first edition for the year 2022/2023.
The award is part of the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications’ efforts to encourage companies of port services and maritime transport to comply with international standards, laws and legislation related to the organisation and operation of ports and jetties in the Kingdom.
Al Mahmoud thanked the companies participating in the initiative, stressing the importance of joint cooperation between the public and the private sectors to consolidate best practices that further enhance Bahrain’s position in maritime transport regionally and internationally.
"We are thrilled with the response to the Mina’ai Award initiative since there were 23 participating businesses. This demonstrates the commitment of companies providing port services in Bahrain to all international regulations, rules, and standards, supporting the growth and sustainability of the maritime transportation industry," he added.
The Mina’ai Award consisted of different categories, to ensure the encouragement of innovation and commitment in all types of port services.
Certificates were handed over to the winning companies during the ceremony, and first-place winners were:
- Gulf Petrochemical Industries (GPIC), in the category of industrial jetties.
- Al Jazeera Shipping Company (AJS), in the category of private jetties.
- Delma Marine Company, in the category of passenger maritime transport jetties for its private jetty in the Avenues Mall-Bahrain.
- Southern Tourism Company in the category of passenger maritime transport companies
