Qatar and 15 Nations Denounce Israel’s Diplomatic Move in Somaliland

Doha: The foreign ministers of 15 Arab and Islamic countries, including Qatar, have jointly condemned Israel's recent appointment of a diplomatic envoy to the region referred to as "Somaliland," labeling the move as a blatant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

According to Qatar News Agency, the foreign ministers from countries such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Indonesia, among others, expressed their collective disapproval of unilateral actions that threaten the unity or sovereignty of states. They underscored their steadfast support for Somalia's unity and legitimate state institutions, emphasizing that these institutions are the sole representatives of the Somali people's will.

The ministers further highlighted that Israel's action violates international law principles, the United Nations Charter, and the Constitutive Act of the African Union. They warned that such a precedent could destabilize the Horn of Africa, adversely affecting regional peace and security.
