Lusail: The Qatar International Open Taekwondo Championship concluded on Saturday at Lusail Multipurpose Hall. The three-day event saw a record turnout with 1,440 male and female athletes representing 40 countries, competing in four categories and eight weight classes for both men and women. According to Qatar News Agency, Secretary-General of the Qatar Taekwondo, Judo, and Karate Federation and Tournament Director, Eid Al Muraikhi, expressed his satisfaction with the championship's success both technically and organizationally. Al Muraikhi noted the significant participation from athletes, administrators, and trainers, which exceeded expectations. He emphasized that the Lusail Multipurpose Hall played a crucial role in the event's success, facilitating smooth organization and operations. The event's final day was marked by strong competition, featuring champions from internationally recognized countries such as Kazakhstan, Jordan, Tunisia, and Algeria. Al Muraikhi highlighted the positive feedback from par ticipating delegations regarding the organization and the impressive Lusail Hall. The substantial number of 700 male and female athletes on the last day demonstrated the championship's reputation and strength. HE Head of Media Relations at the Qatar Olympic Committee, Sheikh Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, commended the event's conclusion and praised the organization at Lusail Hall. He congratulated the medal winners and acknowledged the substantial fan presence throughout the event. Sheikh Hamad thanked the Qatar Taekwondo, Judo, and Karate Federation for their efforts and reassured that the Olympic Committee remains committed to supporting both local and international federations in organizing major world championships.
