Qatari Newspapers Highlight Support for Local Agriculture and Condemn Provocative Incursions at Al-Aqsa Mosque

Doha: In a local matter, Al-Arab newspaper praised the support provided by the Ministry of Municipality to the agricultural sector, which embodies the state's vision to enhance food security and achieve self-sufficiency. The newspaper noted that supporting local farms is not limited to increasing production, but also includes the marketing chain, which is the most crucial link in the sustainability of any successful agricultural activity.

According to Qatar News Agency, in its editorial, Al-Arab paper said that the ministry purchased agricultural products through Mahaseel company, worth nearly QR 93 million, including produce from 2,024 local farms. This reflects the growing confidence in national products and their ability to compete and meet market needs.

The paper added that the support includes marketing programs through agricultural produce markets, direct sales outlets, and the Premium Product program. These represent a qualitative leap in connecting producers directly with consumers, bypassing the traditional complexities of supply chains. This direct connection enhances opportunities for selling local produce at fair prices for both farmers and consumers, reduces waste, and increases distribution efficiency.

Al-Arab concluded by emphasizing that consumer confidence in local agricultural products has become a fundamental pillar in the success of this sector. High quality, along with competitive prices, has made national products a preferred choice for consumers, especially with the increasing awareness of the importance of supporting local production and promoting food sustainability.

In another editorial, Al-Sharq newspaper condemned the repeated provocative incursions into the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, which reveal the Israeli occupation plans to change the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites. The newspaper pointed out that these ongoing incursions enjoy political support and security protection from the occupying authorities. It noted that the latest of these was yesterday's storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque, led by a minister in the Israeli occupation government and under the protection of occupation forces. This constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and a provocation of Muslim sentiments worldwide.

The paper added that the State of Qatar, based on its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, continues its categorical rejection of these incursions and attempts to undermine the religious and historical status of Al-Aqsa Mosque. It stressed the necessity for the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities towards Jerusalem and its holy sites.

Regional stability requires fundamental solutions to the region's crises, foremost among them the Palestinian issue. This can be achieved by intensifying all regional and international efforts to advance a political solution that achieves comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, thereby restoring all legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, Al-Sharq concluded.

In another matter, English-language newspaper The Peninsula reported that the contemporary regional landscape is defined by overlapping crises and fragile ceasefires that together elevate the risk of wider instability. Under the headline 'Preventing Further Escalation', the paper noted that from maritime security concerns in strategic waterways to ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon, the region is experiencing a level of volatility that threatens not only local peace but also global energy flows, trade routes, and economic stability. In this context, diplomatic engagement and mediation have become not optional, but essential tools for preventing further escalation.

The paper added that Qatar has consistently pursued a clear, principled, and balanced foreign policy rooted in dialogue, de-escalation, and respect for international law. Qatar has repeatedly underscored that military solutions only deepen crises, while sustainable peace can only be achieved through political settlement and inclusive negotiation.

It noted that a key feature of Qatar's current diplomatic posture is its support for Pakistani mediation efforts aimed at containing escalation. This emphasis on mediation reflects Qatar's broader conviction that dialogue remains the only viable path to sustainable security.

The Peninsula concluded by noting that beyond mediation, Qatar's diplomacy is also characterised by sustained coordination with regional partners, including Gulf Cooperation Council states and other countries, to manage risks and prevent further escalation. Qatar has also reaffirmed its support for regional security and sovereignty principles, including its backing of Kuwait in response to security violations and its broader condemnation of actions that threaten regional stability.
