Doha: Qatar's shooters secured top spots in the second edition of the Arab Police Shooting Championship for men and women, held in Tunisia. The event was organized by the Arab Police Sports Federation and Tunisia's USTPR.
According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar's men's team finished in second place, while the women's team took third place in the overall standings of the competition, which saw participation from 12 teams with 59 male and female shooters.
During the championship, an executive office meeting and a General Assembly session of the Arab Police Sports Federation took place, chaired by Major General Khalid bin Hamad Al Attiyah, President of both the Arab and Qatari Police Sports Federations.
In the men's team event, Qatar placed second with a total of 998 points, contributed by Captain Jaber Mohammed Al Naimi, First Lieutenant Abdullah Al Mahmoud, and First Lieutenant Ali Jaber Al Mansoori. Tunisia topped the standings with 1002 points, while Saudi Arabia took third place with 979 points.
In the individual men's competition, First Lieutenant Ali Jaber Al Mansoori came second with 343 points, just 12 points behind Algeria's Mohli Tayeb, who won with 355 points. Tunisian Ahmed Al Homeli secured third place with 338 points.
In the women's competition, Qatar's team finished third with 791 points. Algeria claimed first place with 988 points, while Oman came second with 921 points. Tunisia and Bahrain rounded out the top five in fourth and fifth places.
In the individual women's competition, Algeria's Rokia Boujemaa took first with 346 points, followed by her teammate Samia Mehboub in second with 345 points. Oman's Hanan bint Suleiman Al Sulaymani earned third with 315 points. Tunisia's Alifa Al Sharni and Qatar's Dalia Khalifa took fourth and fifth, respectively.
Qatar's women's team was made up of Captain Roda Khalfan Al Ridini, First Lieutenant Dalia Khalifa Mohammed, and First Officer Mariam Salem Al Yarbooi, under the guidance of coach First Officer Noura Al Ali.
The men's team consisted of six shooters: Captain Jaber Mohammed Al Naimi, Captain Abdulrahman Al Jadeed, Captain Mohammed Abdullah Al Obaidli, First Lieutenant Hamad Saeed Al Naimi, First Lieutenant Abdullah Al Mahmoud, and First Lieutenant Ali Jaber Al Mansoori, with Captain Khalid Mohammed Kahoora leading the delegation.
The championship also saw the participation of 10 referees from various Arab sports federations.
