Doha: Qatari newspapers have lauded Qatar’s significant diplomatic achievements and the upcoming sports events that are set to captivate the nation. Al-Watan newspaper highlighted that countries worldwide have applauded the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, acknowledging Qatar’s pivotal mediation role alongside Egypt and the United States.
According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar’s diplomatic endeavors are not confined to regional issues but extend to international concerns, as demonstrated by Qatar’s involvement in the Russian-Ukrainian crisis. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, reiterated the country’s support for international efforts to resolve the crisis peacefully during a conversation with Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Al-Watan emphasized that Qatar’s diplomatic successes stem from its commitment to international peace and its strong global relationships.
Al-Raya newspaper underscored Qatar’s commitment to the ongoing implementation of the Gaza ceasefire deal, with negotiations focusing on rebuilding efforts in the Gaza Strip. Citing reports from the United Nations, the newspaper noted that the destruction in Gaza demands the removal of over 50 million tons of rubble, necessitating significant international cooperation. The UN estimates that reconstruction costs could reach $40 billion, with extensive damage to housing, education, and health sectors.
Meanwhile, The Peninsula newspaper spotlighted an exciting February for sports fans in Qatar, forecasting a month filled with premier events across various disciplines. February will see the 28th edition of the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters Golf Championship, the Qatar Total Energies Open, and the Qatar ExxonMobil Open, among other events. The month will also feature equestrian events like the HH The Amir’s Sword International Equestrian Festival and the Qatar 1812 KM – FIA World Endurance Championship 2025.

Qatar’s National Sport Day on February 11 will unite communities through diverse sporting activities and coincide with the QOC Half Marathon 2025.
