QICCA Successfully Concludes Second Edition of Arbitrators Program

Doha: The Qatar International Centre for Conciliation and Arbitration (QICCA) at Qatar Chamber recently concluded the second edition of the Qualification and Preparation of Arbitrators Programme in 2026. This event was held in collaboration with Qatar University's Centre for Continuing Education.

According to Qatar News Agency, the program was designed to prepare and qualify Qatari personnel through a comprehensive scientific and training curriculum centered on arbitration. HE Vice Chairman of QICCA Sheikh Dr. Thani bin Ali Al-Thani highlighted the wide participation from trainees who represented various governmental and semi-governmental agencies, including jurists, engineers, and individuals interested in arbitration. The program aims to enhance knowledge of arbitration and clarify the foundations of international arbitration, including practical training in procedural, practical, and legal aspects essential for arbitrators and lawyers.

Dr. Al-Thani affirmed QICCA's commitment to supporting the program's graduates by organizing workshops and seminars that provide them with real-world arbitration experience. Upon completing the final stage titled "Practical Mock Trial," Dr. Al-Thani awarded certificates to trainees from governmental, semi-governmental, and private entities.

The program, conducted at Qatar University's premises, included five stages covering commercial arbitration concepts, case management procedures, drafting arbitration awards, and practical training, including a mock trial involving all trainees. Launched in 2007 by QICCA in cooperation with national and international partners, the program aims to qualify both Qatari and resident professionals in commercial arbitration, following a practical and academic approach aligned with international standards. To date, it has graduated over 1,000 participants.

The initiative provides essential legal knowledge and practical skills in arbitration procedures, case management, and drafting arbitral awards, supported by hands-on training and simulated sessions. It demonstrates the Center's efforts to promote arbitration culture and its role in bolstering Qatar's business environment.
