Speaker of the People’s Assembly, Hamouda Sabbagh, met on Thursday a delegation from “Defending Syria Committee in Sweden.”

During the meeting, Sabbagh appreciated the efforts exerted by Syrians abroad to support people of their homeland, stand by them and confront the difficulties and challenges to which they are exposed to, noting that these efforts indicate a genuine patriotism and deep -rooted belonging.

The Speaker called for intensify the efforts to encourage the expat Syrians to increase their activities that would come in the interest of Syria and its people, particularly the activities which reduce the impacts of the blockade and unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on the Syrian people.

For his part, George Maqdisi, head of the delegation affirmed that the Syrian expatriates support their brothers in Syria and this was obvious by their rapid response after the earthquake catastrophe that hit the country February 6th.
