Sabbagh: Security Council inaction to deter Israeli occupation led to escalate its aggression against brotherly Lebanese people

New York, Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Bassam Sabbagh, stressed that the Security Council's failure to take any action to deter the Israeli occupation encouraged it to escalate its aggression against the brotherly Lebanese people, which affirms its disregard for the UN Charter and international law and its insistence on expanding the scope of the genocidal war with American support. 'The Security Council held an emergency session a few days ago to deal with the Israeli cyber terrorist attack on the Lebanese, which led to the martyrdom of dozens of civilians and the serious injury of thousands of others, by the occupation entity's using of civilian devices for mass murder,' Sabbagh said during a session of the UN Security Council on the situation in the Middle East. 'The failure of this Council to take any action to deter 'Israel' has encouraged it to escalate its aggression against our brotherly Lebanon, where 'Israel' has continued its brutal and violent bombardment for several days, resulting in the martyrdom of hundreds of civilians, and more than 500 people were martyred in one day, including women, children, media correspondents and relief workers, and causing a large displacement movement. 'he added. Sabbagh said that Israeli aggression against brotherly Lebanon confirms the Israeli entity's disregard for the UN Charter and international law, and its insistence on expanding the scope of the genocidal war it is waging against the Palestinian people to include Lebanese territory.' Sabbagh continued: 'Syria condemns in strongest terms the shameful, barbaric Israeli aggression against brotherly Lebanon, and expresses its complete readiness to provide support and assistance to the Lebanese brothers in all sectors they need. It stresses the need for the Security Council to take immediate and urgent action, now and not tomorrow, to condemn the multi-faceted Israeli aggression, stop the killing and destruction machine, and prevent 'Israel' from igniting a comprehensive war in the region. Sabbagh went on saying that the continuation of the Israeli occupation entity in its barbaric and brutal aggression against the Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese would not have happened without the unlimited and multi-faceted support provided by the US to this entity, including impunity, which makes it a partner in this aggression. Sabbagh called on the Security Council to end the state of paralysis it is experiencing and to take immediate action to implement its resolutions related to the Arab-Israeli conflict, most notably resolutions 242, 338 and 497, stressing that the region will not enjoy peace and stability unless the Israeli occupation of all occupied Arab lands in Palestine, Syria and Lebanon ends.
