Sabhea Awad Ibrahim’s SUKA’AR wins Al Dibal Cup

The Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) organised the 46th race meeting in the 2021-22 season, Al Dibal Cup day, at the Al Rayyan Racecourse sand track on Wednesday, 6 April. Success in the feature of the eight-race card day, Al Dibal Cup capped off a fine meeting for trainer Mohamed Khaled Elahmed with Sabhea Awad Ibrahim’s SUKA’AR (QA) (Burning Sand x Raheel ASF) ridden by Szczepan Mazur landing the spoils in the1900m Handicap (0-90) for 4YO+ Local Purebred Arabians by three quarters of a length, recording a quick-fire double on the day for the trainer. The Injaaz Stud-owned and Zuhair Mohsen-trained AL JUNOOD (QA) (Hafid Du Bac) finished second under JP Guillambert one and a half lengths in front of the third placed, the Ahmed Hassan Al Malki Al Jehani-owned and the Hamad Al Jehani-trained SHAWEESH (QA) (Nizam), who was ridden by Lukas Delozier.

Abdulla Rashid Al Kubaisi, QREC Racing Manager, presented the trophies to the winners.

SHGARDE

In the penultimate race, the winning margin was only a head in the 1100m Handicap (0-90) for 4YO+ Purebred Arabians, with the Sharida Bin Nasser Bin Sharida Al Kaabi-owned and Mohamed Khaled Elahmed-trained SHGARDE (USA) (AF AlBahar x Dormania CS) getting the verdict under Alberto Sanna denying the Al Ghazali Stud-owned and Gassim Ghazali-trained AJS AL AREDH (QA) (Majd Al Arab), who was ridden by Tadgh O’Shea.

LO DE NALANE

Trainer Owaida Salem Al Hajri gained a win with Raey Al Hessan Racing’s LO DE NALANE (IRE) (Pivotal x Ilhabela) successful in the sixth race, a 1200m Handicap (0-80) for 3YO+ Thoroughbred. The bay came with a strong run in the home straight to win by three quarters of a length under jockey Meteb Ali Al Saaq.

SOUTH AUDLEY

In the fifth race, Mohammed Abdulla A N Al Attiya’s SOUTH AUDLEY (GB) (Aclaim x Sefaat) continued his excellent run of form as he completed a hat-trick with a comfortable two and a quarter length victory for trainer Ibrahim Saeed Al Malki and jockey Tomas Lukasek in the 1700m Handicap (0-75) for 3YO+ Thoroughbreds.

HANOUF DUKHAN

After the fourth race, trainer Ali Al Saaq and jockey Rashid Ali Al Saaq were in the winners’ enclosure as they teamed up with Antar Rashid A Al Marri’s HANOUF DUKHAN (QA) (Alam Al Khalediah x Ghazwat Dukhan) to win the 1700m Handicap (0-70) for 4YO+ Purebred Arabians by two and a half lengths.

LOCAL LAW

In the third race, the 1900m Novice Plate for 4YO+ Thoroughbreds went the way of Hamed Ali H A Al Mulla’s LOCAL LAW (GB) (Dubawi x Lady Marian), who drew five lengths clear under jockey Lukas Delozier, giving trainer Hamad Al Jehani a quick-fire double on the day.

BAXTER

The 1700m Maiden Plate for 4-6YO Local Thoroughbreds saw a close finish as Hamad Ahmed Hassan Al Malki Al Jehani’s BAXTER (QA) (Atlantic Air x Sooner or Later) got off the mark on his fourth career start, defeating the Hassan Ali A M Alabdulmalik-owned DREEM OF DOHA (QA) (Dubday) by a neck in a thriller and giving trainer Hamad Al Jehani and jockey Soufiane Saadi a victory on the day. The runner-up was saddled by Ahmed Kobeissi and ridden by Pranil Arvind.

MIDRASS

The evening began with Ghazwan Racing’s MIDRASS (FR) (Amer x Melusinne) taking the Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate for 4-6YOs over 1200m, by half a length, under jockey Shakir Al Balushi for trainer Hadi Al Ramzani.
