SCH President receives World Bank delegation

President of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, has affirmed the keenness of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and thanks to the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to provide the best quality healthcare services to all the members of the society in Bahrain.

 

The SCH President made the statements while receiving here, in the presence of the Health Ministry’s Undersecretary, Dr. Waleed Al-Manae, the Regional Director of the Gulf Cooperation Council at the World Bank (WB), Issam Abu Suleiman, and his accompanying delegation.

 

The meeting aimed to discuss ways to enhance the ongoing cooperation between the two sides, within the framework of the visit of the WB’s delegation of experts to the kingdom.

 

Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla commended the WB’s fruitful role and advanced level of cooperation, contributing to the success of many health plans, projects and programmes.

 

He highlighted the importance of continuing the close cooperation with the World Bank, praising the outcomes of the WB’s cooperation with the Kingdom in the health fields, and its prominent role in enhancing global development knowledge and expertise.

 

The SCH President highlighted Bahrain’s National Health Insurance Programme (Sehati), which aims to provide the health requirements of citizens and residents and achieve comprehensive health coverage in the Kingdom by providing integrated, sustainable and high-quality health services, using the available resources.

 

He also referred to the “Choose Your Doctor programme”, which falls under the umbrella of the National Health Insurance Programme and is implemented in primary health care centres within the self-management project, praising the level of services provided in the primary health care sector in the Kingdom and stressing the importance of enhancing the sustainability and advancement of health services.

 

The WB Regional Director commended Bahrain’s pioneering and exemplary experience in combating the COVID-19 pandemic at the level of national health initiatives, expressing thanks and appreciation to the SCH President and Health Ministry’s Undersecretary for the warm welcome and hospitality.

 

Issam Abu Suleiman wished all health sectors in the kingdom continued success in implementing comprehensive development plans, as well as in carrying on joint cooperation and coordination to achieve the health and development goals to the fullest.

 

He emphasised the World Bank Group’s keenness to strengthen its ongoing cooperation with the SCH and all health sectors in the kingdom in all health-related fields.
