The Shura Council, yesterday, held its regular weekly session, chaired by the Speaker of the Shura Council, HE Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanem. In the presence of Minister of Finance, HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, and a number of senior officials from the Ministry, the Council discussed the draft state budget for the fiscal year 2022, and the draft law approving the general budget, as the Minister gave a full explanation of the draft budget, and answered the questions and inquiries of the members of the Council.
Speaker of the Shura Council stated that the economy and the state’s budget are in a good position, despite the repercussions of the Coronavirus pandemic on the global economy in general, noting that global indicators and international credit ratings for the financial situation of Qatar are very good.
The Speaker explained that the budget came as an embodiment of the directives of HH the Amir, which was based on the need to adhere to proper planning according to a long-term vision, rationalizing government spending, while being keen on raising the efficiency of the public sector and promoting economic diversification, in conjunction with increasing the productivity and quality of work in the public sector.
