The Shura Council, yesterday at its weekly meeting chaired by Speaker of the Council HE Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, discussed a draft law on the temporary expropriation and seizure of real estate for the public benefit. After extensive discussions of its provisions, the Council decided to refer it to the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee and the Services and Public Utilities Committee of the Council.
The Council also praised the high level of organisation and the success of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021 being hosted by Qatar for the first time.
The Council considered the tournament as an ideal opportunity to improve the preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, noting that this achievement was the culmination of sound planning, national will and comprehensive strategic vision that were laid down by the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
