Doha: HE Director of the Department of American Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Jassim bin Mohammed Al Asmakh, affirmed that the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the State of Qatar and Canada on the establishment of a strategic dialogue underscores the deepening partnership between the two countries. This initiative highlights their commitment to enhancing cooperation and coordination across various areas of mutual interest.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al Asmakh discussed the longstanding Qatari-Canadian relations, which have spanned over 50 years. He noted that these relations are anchored in continuous coordination between the leaderships of the two nations, mutual respect, common interests, and ongoing development in political, economic, security, and developmental fields.
He further emphasized Qatar's role as a reliable partner for Canada, particularly during crises. The collaboration between the two countries includes joint efforts to support regional and international security and stability, strengthen multilateralism, and seek diplomatic solutions to crises.
Additionally, Al Asmakh expressed Qatar's eagerness to share its organizational experience with Canada. This includes enhancing joint cooperation to implement best practices for organizing the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026, which will be hosted in Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
