State of Qatar Signs Comprehensive Air Transport Agreement with EU

The State of Qatar signed yesterday the Comprehensive Air Transport Agreement with the European Union (EU), ushering in a new chapter of cooperation in the field of air transportation between the State of Qatar and EU countries. The new Agreement replaces already-signed bilateral agreements, and it will not abrogate the previous rights granted to the State of Qatar and the EU Member States.

HE Mr. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, Qatar's Minister of Transport and Communications, and HE Mr. Anze Logar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, whose country is assuming the current rotating presidency of the EU, signed the Agreement in Luxemburg.

Under the Agreement, relevant companies from all countries will enjoy an easy and free access to markets with fewer restrictions, in order to boost the opportunities of competition significantly. All parties have been keen to ensure that these opportunities shall be fair and shall ensure the application of the principles of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) through "allowing fair and equal opportunities for all parties."
