With the participation of Syria, ACSAD held Wednesday the 8th conference of “Scientific Research and Agricultural Extension Development in the Arab Countries” under the theme “The role of scientific research and agricultural extension to counterbalance the effect of land degradation due to climate change” in the Center building in Damascus.
Participants will discuss on two-day video conference the national studies and research on basic and voluntary indicators and national programmes for achieving land degradation neutrality and its role to counterbalance degradation impacts due to climate change.
In addition, the conference includes working paper on the role of agricultural extension and scientific research in raising awareness and applying good practices to neutralize land degradation as well as working papers by the participants on the challenges facing Arab countries in this field.
Thirteen Arab countries are participating in the conference, including Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Iraq, Kuwait, Yemen, Egypt, Sudan, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Mauritania.
